Chrysler Corporation OBD I diagnostic trouble codes information here explains how to get the codes without any special tools. The codes are listed seperately based upon fuel delivery type. The codes are defined as to what system is affected. When possible we give the more commonly known OBD II component name.
This information combined with proper testing procedures, specifications, and tools like a digital multimeter can help you fix the vehicle right the first time. OBD diagnostic does not have to be difficult or inconclusive.
This is not meant to be a substitute for information in the factory service manuals or the product service training manuals.

Using The MIL Light To Get Codes
Turn the key to the "on" position to confirm that the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) functions.
Cycle the ignition key ON- OFF - ON - OFF - ON within 5 seconds.
Count the number of times the MIL flashes on and off- the number of flashes represent the trouble code.
Notes:
There is a slight pause between the flashes representing the first and second digits of the trouble code. Longer pauses represent the seperator between the two digit trouble codes.
As you can see clearly from the chart these are not as descriptive as the codes obtained using a Chrysler DRB scan tool or an aftermarket scan tool, but they can give you a general area of interest that should be investigated further. Also there are differences between a carburettor and an injected vehicle.
